“I am in the 7th grade and am currently on winter vacation. I can’t wait for the next academic year as I’ll be moving on to 8th grade. This winter vacation is extra special for me because it’s a time when my entire family comes together.

My mother is the backbone of our family, but she recently suffered a broken arm and had to stop running her restaurant. However, she refused to let this setback defeat her. Instead, she started selling porridge and snacks to make ends meet.

As soon as my cousins, little sister, and I heard about it, we knew we had to help. During the day, we split into two groups, with half of us helping my mother at Changlimithang and the other half here at Damchen Petrol Pump. It’s hard work, but it’s also a lot of fun because we get to spend time together and support my mother simultaneously.

For me, winter and summer vacations are like blessings in disguise. Not only do I get a break from school, but I also get to spend quality time with my loved ones and help my mother with her business. These experiences have taught me the value of hard work and determination and have helped shape me into the person I am today.

I am grateful for my mother’s resilience and unwavering spirit. I am also thankful for the memories I make with my family every winter and summer vacation. They are moments I will cherish for a lifetime.”
